Annual Report 2021

The Euro­pean Coun­cil for Stein­er Wal­dorf Edu­ca­tion is an inter­na­tion­al non-prof­it organ­i­sa­tion (AISBL). It con­sists of 27 nation­al Stein­er Wal­dorf school asso­ci­a­tions, rep­re­sent­ing 775 Stein­er Wal­dorf schools across 28 Euro­pean coun­tries. Our mis­sion is to sup­port gen­uine Stein­er Wal­dorf edu­ca­tion and pro­mote free­dom in edu­ca­tion in Europe.

Our work to ful­fil our mis­sion in 2021 is sum­marised in our first ful­ly dig­i­tal annu­al report. Passing of Richard Landl, president untill May 2021

On the 22nd of May 2021, pres­i­dent of ECSWE, Richard Landl, crossed the thresh­old of death.

Financial report: 200,119 € spent on activities and projects

Due to a high­er lev­el of activ­i­ty in 2021, ECSWE clos­es the year with a planned loss of 27,364 € that was cov­ered by ded­i­cat­ed reserves.

The Par­lia­ment res­o­lu­tion of 25 March 2021 calls for more research into the impact of dig­i­tal tech­nol­o­gy on edu­ca­tion and child development.

Bringing health and well-being into the DigComp Framework

Fol­low­ing our active involve­ment, the revised Dig­i­tal Com­pe­tence Frame­work empha­sis­es healthy and con­scious use of dig­i­tal tools.

Erasmus+: Applying for project on media education

The project will result in a web­site, a frame­work cur­ricu­lum, school pol­i­cy guide­lines, train­ings for teach­ers and webi­na­rs for parents.

A frame­work cur­ricu­lum cov­er­ing the Dig­Comp Frame­work and a brochure on dig­i­tal media edu­ca­tion were trans­lat­ed into English.

Our work­shops on 30 Novem­ber and 3 Decem­ber cov­ered the top­ics of well-being in dig­i­tal media edu­ca­tion and diver­si­ty in assess­ment.

Representing 27 national associations

26 member calls: Tailoring our work to members’ needs

The struc­tured video calls showed a clear need for pro­fes­sion­al advo­ca­cy, PR and asso­ci­a­tion man­age­ment at all lev­els of the organisation.

7 working groups: engaging members thematically

Key themes are the review of our prin­ci­ples, cur­ricu­lum devel­op­ment in Europe, col­lect­ing research, and Upper School development.

3 Council meetings: strengthening member involvment

In Feb­ru­ary and May 2021, we met online, fol­lowed by an in-per­son meet­ing from 24–26 Sep­tem­ber 2021 in Frank­furt, Germany.

Portugese Waldorf Association becomes full member

Dur­ing the Gen­er­al Assem­bly in June 2021, the mem­ber­ship of Asso­ci­ação Por­tugue­sa de Esco­las com Ped­a­gogia Wal­dorf was warm­ly welcomed.
