School anxiety and attendance: How to support young people who are struggling?

Do you know a young person who struggles with school anxiety or finds it hard to attend school regularly? Would you like to know how to better support young people with anxiety within your school community?

Join us for a webinar exploring what school anxiety looks like in practice and how teachers, parents, and school leaders can respond with compassion and confidence. Through reflection and open dialogue, we will look at what lies behind school avoidance and attendance difficulties, how these manifest differently across ages and contexts, and what approaches in school and at home can genuinely help young people find their way back.

Whether you are a parent living with this challenge, a teacher trying to reach a struggling student, or a school leader looking to build a more supportive environment, this webinar offers practical insights grounded in both research and lived experience.

Speaker: Kath Bransby

Kath Bransby is Education Coordinator at Waldorf UK, a senior lecturer in teacher education at Sheffield Hallam University, and a member of the ECSWE board. Kath brings a rare depth to this topic, as both a professional working at the intersection of education and teacher training, and as the parent of a child with anxiety who was out of school for two years, she understands from the inside what families and schools face when a young person is struggling to attend.
