ECSWE secures operating grant for 2025
european commission
With 80% pre-financing received, the 2025 EU operating grant enables ECSWE to actively engage members, explore green and regenerative education, and continue its curriculum development efforts.

A solid foundation for an ambitious year

On 24 April, ECSWE received the pre-financing for its 2025 EU operating grant under the Erasmus+ Civil Society Cooperation programme. The €140.000 grant supports the delivery of our annual work plan, reinforces our services for 28 member associations, and benefits over 190.000 pupils in more than 800 schools across Europe. It ensures continuity in our core activities and strengthens our role in supporting educational transformation.

Focusing on sustainability in schools

This year, ECSWE is placing a strong focus on climate and sustainability. We are creating space for peer exchange on green education and supporting interested schools in piloting climate assessments based on the CO2 Zero methodology. The online event Our Green Stories taking place on 10 October 2025 will bring together students and teachers to share experiences and inspire change across school communities.

Stronger connection to members

Our 2025 work plan deepens our engagement with members. A new round of calls with each of our member association representatives are providing fresh insights and long-term patterns of national level priorities and challenges of Steiner Waldorf schools in Europe The grant is also supporting the continuous dissemination of the HERMMES approach to digital media education and the work on the meso-level of the core curriculum for Steiner Waldorf schools. Based on these efforts, we can provide resources to support our members in their work with schools and policymakers.
